Open studios Tempelhof-Schöneberg
13 June to 29 June 2003

Schöneberg has a long tradition as a district with a high share of artists. In 1991, the last "Open Day" took place, with the focus on the studios around the Crellestraße and the Belziger Straße, the main focus of the Schöneberger artists' scene. After the district fusion of Tempelhof and Schöneberg in 2001, there was a growing need to get an overview of the artistic activities in the new district.

In cooperation with the decentralized cultural work of the district Tempelhof-Schöneberg, therefore, the association Quarts e.V. in 2003 planned the project local art - open workshops Tempelhof-Schöneberg. The local art team, consisting of the art scientist Constanze Musterer, the cultural manager Peter Wollenweber and the artist Peter Gustavus, began in autumn 2002 with the research on the artists who are active in the new district.

With the project local art 2003, the brochure "local art guide" was published, in which artists who participated in the project were presented as well as detailed information on the events were to be found – a local "artist industry book" one of the main concerns of local arts in 2003 – considerably facilitated.
